Matt Davis, wine director at Willow Lodge, will be a guest on TableTalk – Radio That Tastes Good, Wednesday, March 13 at 8 a.m. on 1150 KKNW AM. Join us as we chat about Washington Wine Month and taste a few Golden Grape Award winners on the air!
More than 50 Woodinville wineries competed in this year’s Golden Grape Awards. Judging took place during three private events in February and all enteries were reviewed in side-by-side blind tastings by category. The wines were evaluated in six qualities: Appearance (1 point), Aroma (5 points), Flavor (5 points), Body (4 points), Balance (4 points) and Overall Impression (6 points) – for a total of 25 points. The judges consisted of winemakers and winemaking staff and the overall score is weighted heavily towards the judges overall impressions. When the winemakers themselves are blind tasting the wines and judging them, there is a lot of credibility to the award program.
“These are truly the wines winemakers believe exemplify Woodinville wines,” said Matt Davis, Wine Director for Barking Frog and Golden Grapes Award host. And a gracious host he was! Here is a short video of Matt talking about the awards:
