Flagship tasting event at Fremont Studios to showcase Washington’s leading distilleries

Certainly, most of the Seattle-area residents who buy tickets to PROOF: The Washington Distllers Festival, do so with the anticipation of sampling some of Washington’s most outstanding craft spirits. But the food at PROOF is worth every bit of the ticket price all by itself.

Tom Douglas’s The Carlile Room, plus 190 Sunset, ChucH, and the new-to-PROOF Edmonds trio of Salt & Iron, Bar Dojo and The Mar•Ket are just a few of the 18 local restaurants, bars and cafes that will be serving up delicious bites to PROOF attendees all evening long, pairing their incredible fare with the award-winning craft spirits of the Washington Distillers Guild.

The one-night-only event, showcasing the highly regarded spirits being made by the men and women of the Washington Distillers Guild, runs from from 5:30-9 p.m. on Saturday, July 7 at Fremont Studios (VIP admission at 4:30 p.m.). Full information, including a list of participating distilleries and restaurants, plus ticket prices and more, is available online at PROOFWashington.org.

Through its first five years, PROOF has been a huge hit with distillers and consumers alike. Last year’s sold-out event saw attendees meet and mingle with the craftsmen and women of the Washington Distillers Guild — the largest of its kind in the nation — while enjoying award-winning spirits, delicious local bites and more in a hip, urban setting designed to showcase grand tasting programming and education. Already in 2018, 48 distilleries and 18 restaurants have committed to PROOF — both numbers tracking at a record pace — while ticket sales are on pace for a fifth-consecutive sellout.

Including tastings of locally made whiskey, gin, bourbon, vodka and other craft spirits, attendees will have the chance to discover a new favorite cocktail made by local restaurants, and purchase bottles of their favorite new finds. In addition, beverage industry experts like Lew Bryson, author of Tasting Whiskey; Tom Johnson of the Aroma Academy; Venise Cunningham of Simple Goodness Syrups; Belinda Kelly of Happy Camper Cocktail Company; Bradley Sprouse of Barnacle and Walrus and the Carpenter; Austin Polley of Huxley Wallace; and Marty Duffy of Glencairn Crystal will take to the Use The Booze stage to give tips on everything from herbal liqueurs, to savoring the perfect spirit, to growing your own garden-to-glass cocktails, and more!

General admission tickets are $50 through June 26 ($55 after), and can be purchased online at PROOFWashington.org.
